Kings Bridge Project Impacts Trail

KingsBridgePlan adj

A major $22 million construction project that has been in the works for 5 years has begun—and it will have a big impact on the Little Miami Scenic Trail.

The bridge crossing the Little Miami River linking King Ave. in Kings Mills with Grandin Road, which crosses our trail next to the Peters Cartridge Factory complex, will be replaced with a new bridge upstream from the old decaying bridge. King Ave. will be realigned to eliminate the hairpin turn, and the new bridge will feature a 10-foot-wide multi-use path separated from the traffic lanes for pedestrians and cyclists.

The good news is that a tunnel will be built for trail users to cross under Grandin Rd., eliminating the current busy trail intersection, and a new parking lot will be built for trail access. The bad news is that the trail will have to be closed for several months, beginning May 9, and no trail detour will be provided. The Warren County Engineer’s office is in charge of the project and sets the schedule.  We will keep you updated here on the FLMSP website and on Facebook and Twitter.

More information on the project is available here.
